DESIGN

The current planning application seeks permission to change the use of the building from offices to a heritage and visitor centre, which allows the internal layout to be reconfigured. This will enable the building to better support visitor uses, including exhibitions and events, while making more effective use of the building footprint.

As part of a full planning application submitted in March 2026, permission is being sought for recladding the exterior and an extension to the Administration Building. The extension has been sensitively designed to align with the scale and height of the existing building

PUBLIC REALM

The proposals support improvements to public realm and landscaping around the building, including the area between the Administration Building and Botanic Avenue. The landscaped public space will include new planting, creating a more welcoming and appropriate setting for the building’s future use as a heritage and visitor centre.
